Because of the staircase, the apartment will not suit the infirm or children (children under 10 months accepted -  ONLY with prior agreement).

Note: we have a strong mobile phone signal from the apartment. We would recommend that to save your strength that you bring a couple of smaller bags rather than one very large case as there are two flights of steps to climb! We also recommend that you bring a torch as it is a fairly dark sky area at night, and there is a gate to unlock at the end of the drive.

How to get here:

Because of its secluded position a car is really essential.

Direct link from the A38 “Express Way” – 2 miles.

Or use the train or fly and hire a car:
Exeter Airport – 13 miles.

Main railway line and hire a car – St David’s Station, Exeter – 10 miles.

Summer 2016: The impact that the continuous wet winter weather has had on the Haldon Belvedere is now visible and gradually since 2012 it has caused damage to the external paint and stonework on the building.  However, we are delighted to advise that funding from Viridor Environmental Credits is in place and  work has begun to reinstate the whole of the outside to its former glory without scaffolding or machinery. From June-September 2016  our specialist conservators will be abseiling on ropes down from the top to repair leadwork and reinstate the joints to the stone detailing. Following along behind the restoration work the exterior walls will be redecorated via ropes. Conservators will  be on site, weather and wind permitting, on most but not all weekdays from 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday. All our events and apartment bookings will take place as usual during this period,

If the conservators are working from the roof -  access will be limited between 10am and 4pm but available for sunrises and sunsets!

Let us hope for a glorious summer with sunny days and balmy evenings to show off the newly redecorated castle.

“Everything so perfect. Many thanks and looking forward to our next visit. “
Mr & Mrs M. Yeoford.

“If you are looking for a very special and magical experience then this is definitely it, whatever the weather. We will definitely be back. Thank you Haldon Belvedere.”
Mr & Mrs L. Shipton-on Stour.

“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this wonderful castle. Everything about it is lovely; decor up in the apartment very well thought out.”
S & L D. Ipswich.

“Had a lovely time – special 60th birthday picnic up with family on the roof with little granddaughter looking for Rapunzel! Spotted and took pictures of a family of deer about 8.00pm. Hope to come back again soon.”
E G. Torquay.

We got engaged on the roof and then spent the next evening waiting for the Red Arrows. At 7.00pm they flew over in formation with smoke – what an amazing sight! We will definitely be back soon.
